Biography: PENELOPE S. “PENNY” DURANT
SYLVAN BEACH- Penelope S. “Penny” Durant, 62, of Myrtle Ave, died Wednesday, December 2, 2020, at Colonial Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Rome, where she has been a resident for the last two weeks.
Born in Oneida, on July 7, 1958, she was the daughter of Christopher T. “Ward” and Jean F. Wilson Durant Sr. A lifelong resident of the area, Penny was a graduate of Stockbridge Valley High School. She was the first female member of the Future Farmers of America of Rome.
Penny was employed with Turning Stone Casino and Bethany Gardens and previously employed with Oneida Limited for fifteen years. She loved crafting and baking and had a special spot in her heart for her grandchildren and was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving is her daughter, Holly A. Hall of Sylvan Beach; her son and his wife, Gerald C. and Jaime Hall of Canastota; her two stepsons Robert Hall of Wisconsin and Roy Lee Hall of Phoenix Arizona; her eight grandchildren; three brothers, Christopher T. Durant Jr. of Stuart Virginia, Kirtland L. Durant of Sylvan Beach, and Bradlee S. Durant of Rome; her three sisters and their companions, Geanna and Gerald Fallon of Stittville, Victoria Durant and fiancé, Michael Johnson of Oneida, and Andrea Durant of Parish; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 1PM, Wednesday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida, with the Reverend Thomas Durant, officiating. Interment will be made in Stockbridge Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 11 AM-1PM, Wednesday. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, facial coverings including the mouth and nose will be enforced, social distancing will be required, and adjusted capacity will be maintained.
