Biography: DANIEL R. AMES ONEIDA – Daniel R. Ames, 77, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021, in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Utica. Born in Montour Falls, NY on October 12, 1943, he was the son of William and Hazel Pike Ames. A resident of Oneida area for the past 35 years, formerly of Verona, Dan was a graduate of Watkins Glenn High School and served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, serving two tours. He married Marie Donnelly on April 25, 1969, in Montour Falls. Marie died January 9, 2020. Prior to his retirement, with twenty - two years of service retiring as a CMSGT, Dan worked for PAR Technology. He was the former commander of the Verona VFW, Post #6811, former member of the Verona Fire Department, and an avid NASCAR fan. Surviving is his daughter, Tracy (Nathan Johnston) M. Hamilton of Oneida; his son, Christopher D. Ames of Springfield, MO; his seven grandchildren, Crystal, Logan, Tara, Skyler, Ian, Colin, and Zoey; his four great-grandchildren; his sister, Ann Bradley of Lake Alfred, FL; and his brother, Edward Ames of Charlottesville, NC. He was predeceased by his three brothers William, Robert, and Richard. Funeral services will be held 9:00AM, Monday (6/7) at the family plot in Verona Cemetery, with full military honors.
