Biography: DORIS D. DEGROAT
ONEIDA- Doris D. DeGroat, 88, of Bennett Rd, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Oneida Health Care shortly following her admission as a medical patient.
Born on August 2, 1932, in Warwick, NJ, Doris graduated from high school in Sussex, NJ. Moving to the Oneida area in 1969, Doris married Chester A. Degroat in Port Jervis on November 29, 1952. Chester died on November 21, 1990.
Prior to her retirement, Doris was employed with the Madison-Cortland ARC as a home director, and was formerly employed with State Farm. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, wildlife and loved spending time with her late husband and her family. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Doris is survived by her two sons, Mark C. (Julie) DeGroat and Jason A. (Kelly) DeGroat, both of Theresa; her daughter, Jan (Richard) Spadafora of Oneida; her five grandchildren Sarah (Robert) Cole, Mark (Stanzy) DeGroat, Matthew (David) DeGroat, Annie (Jessie) DeGroat, and Justin (Alexis) Thornton; and her six great grandchildren Evan, Nolan, Charli, Haley, Melissa, and William. She was predeceased by her sister Vivan Leinweber, who died in 1962.
Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
