Biography: LYNN D. DALZELL
SHERRILL- Lynn D. Dalzell, 73, of East Hamilton Avenue, passed away on Monday, May 2, 2022, in Oneida Health Hospital, shortly after her admission, with her family by her side. She had been fighting a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Watertown on July 28, 1948, she was the daughter of Carlton and Donna Mae Burgess Champney. A resident of the area since her teenage years, Lynn was a graduate of Chittenango High School and Onondaga Community College. She married Samuel Dalzell in St. Joseph’s Church on June 19, 1982.
Prior to her retirement, Lynn was an adored dental hygienist with Dr. Kurt Gormley of Sherrill Dental Arts and previously with Dr. James Thomas. She was an avid reader and a member of the Quilters Guild, the Women’s Golf League at the Community Golf Course and was a member and cantor of St. Helena’s Church.
Lynn was a devoted wife and an incredible mother; selflessly prioritizing others. She loved their times in Long Lake and Kasoag Lake.
Surviving besides her loving husband Samuel are: one daughter, Sarah E. Dalzell (Kelly Pope Jr) of Canastota; one son, James D. Dalzell (Megan Remington) of Sherrill; one beloved grandson, James Dalzell; daughter-in-law, Heather Holley of Norman, OK; two brothers, Lee (Charlotte) Champney of Upton, KY and Kim (Bonnie) Champney of NC and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Michael B. M. Dalzell in January of 2004.
