Biography: David P. Ball, 78, of North Court Street, Wampsville, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, in the Abraham House, Rome, where he had been a resident for the past two days.
Born in Oneida on April 10, 1945, he was the son of D. Perry and Arlene Judd Ball. A lifelong resident of the area, David was a graduate of Cazenovia High School and SUNY Technical College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He married Linda Lyga in the Chittenango Methodist Church on October 14, 1967.
Prior to his retirement with over twenty-five years of service, David was employed with Freightliner Corporation as a service representative. He had previously been employed in the trucking industry with Perry Ball & Sons milk hauling and Marshall & Houseman Inc. in Sherrill, as their service manager.
David was an original member of the Central New York Antique Tractor Club and enjoyed being a beef farmer.
Surviving besides his wife Linda are: two sons, Darrin Ball and Brian (Marni) Ball, all of Canastota; six grandchildren, Emily, Darrick, Melina, Hanna, Brandon and Allison; two sisters, Kathy (Peter) Matzel of Chittenango and Missy (Bill) Anderson of Ohio and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Ronald Ball, in 1957 and a granddaughter, Etta.
Services will be held at a later time and date, to be announced. Arrangements are under the direction of the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida.
