Biography: Angelika D. Burnett, 58, of Barrington Road, Oneida, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023, in Oneida Health Hospital, where she had been admitted earlier as a medical patient.
Born in Utica on February 17, 1965, she was the daughter of William C. and Christina Lobig Burnett. She has been a resident of Oneida for the past six years, coming from Scotia, Georgia and originating in Utica where she was born and raised. Angelika was educated in Utica Free Academy.
Angelika was currently employed in the maintenance department for J. H. Rhodes in Verona and had previously been employed by Smith’s Laundry and Dry Cleaner, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She was of the Christian faith. Angelika was known to be very easy going, sweet and shy but also had a remarkable work ethic. Her daughter was born to her in her later years and becoming a mother to her miracle baby, completed her life.
Surviving are: her loving fiancé, LeRoy DeGroat of Oneida; daughters, Ava J. DeGroat of Oneida, Diamond DeGroat of Marietta, GA and Genevieve (Jason) Mullings of Lawrenceville, GA; three grandchildren, Dominic, Gabriel and Theo; mother, Christina Dorsagno of Sherrill; father and step-mother, William (Ann) Burnett of Clark Mills; four sisters, Christine (Chet) Favale of FL, Monika (Robert) Sereday of GA, Crystal (Tim) Dorn of New Hartford and Jennifer (Andrew) Simso of FL; two brothers, John (Gina) Burnett of Frankfort and Bill (Jennifer) Burnett of Durhamville; four sisters-in-law, Cheryl, Jean, Sylvia and Katherine and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her step-father, David Dorsagno and nephew, Santos Irizarry.
Funeral services will be held 4PM Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home from 2-4PM, prior to the funeral service. Contributions, in the form of time, talent or treasure, may be made to your local animal shelter.
