Biography: Betty M. Janczuk, 90, formerly of Charles Street, Durhamville, died Sunday, May 21, 2023, in the Extended Care Facility of Oneida Healthcare, surrounded by her loving family, where she had been a resident for the past seven months.
Born in Manchester, Vermont, on October 23, 1932, she was the daughter of Vernon L. and Bertha Clayton Thornton. Betty was a graduate of Madison High School. She married Stanley A. Janczuk in Oriskany Falls on July 2, 1951. Mr. Janczuk died on July 11, 2015.
Betty was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church, Canastota and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Canastota Post #600.
Surviving are her two daughters, Sandra (William) Carinci of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina and Lynne (Buster) Williams of Verona; her three sons, Stanley T. Janczuk of Durhamville, Timothy (Dottie) Janczuk of Morrisville and Roger E. (Sherri) Janczuk of New Hartford; one brother, Willard “Bill” Thornton of Oneida; nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, LeRoy V. Thornton, Sr., and Edwin J. Thornton, Sr.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Friday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, with the Reverend Nick Smith, officiating. Interment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 11 AM – 1 PM, Friday. Contributions, in her memory, may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, or VFW Canastota Post # 600.
