Biography: JEAN D. WALLACE
ONEIDA- Jean D. Wallace, Main Street, died Friday, August 29, 2014, after a brief stay in the Oneida Healthcare Center.
The daughter of James and Eva Butler Hewitt, she was born in Syracuse on July 29, 1930. A resident of the Oneida area since infancy, Jean attended Oneida High School before graduating from Crouse Irving School of Nursing, Class of 1951. She married Jack E. Wallace in Oneida on October 4, 1951.
Jean was a Registered Professional Nurse with the Oneida City Hospital and spent many years in the operating room, before retirement in June of 1989. She also assisted her husband with the operation of W. J. Hinman Jewelers. Jean loved cats and caring for Stump. She was of the Protestant faith, affiliated with Jehovah’s Witness and St. Paul’s United Methodist Church.
Surviving, besides her husband, are one daughter and son-in-law, Tari and Mark Peters of Oneida; two sons and a daughter-in-law, David C. and Anne Wallace of Cazenovia and Guy P. Wallace of North Bay; four grandchildren and their spouses, Holly and Jason Nichols, Lance and Crystal Kapps, Matthew and Julie Wallace, and Christopher and Wallis Wallace; five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Morgan, Jack, Aevlyn, and Rowan; a cousin, Arlene Compoli of Canastota; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 6 PM, Tuesday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, with the Reverend Brian Fellows officiating. Interment will be made in Glenwood Cemetery.
