Biography: LELAND S. “STEVE” MUDGE
ROME- Leland S. “Steve” Mudge, 56, River Road, died Wednesday afternoon, October 1, 2014, in Rome Hospital, shortly after his admission as a medical patient.
Born in Auburn,on May 8, 1958, he was the son of Lyle and Anna
Truesdale Mudge. A resident of Rome for the past two years, Steve was a graduate of Morrisville-Eaton High School. He married the former Diane Gilboy in Oneida, on June 28, 2008.
Mr. Mudge was formerly employed with the Family Dollar Distribution Center and for many years was a mechanic in the tractor trailer industry. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving besides his wife, Diane, are his son, Christopher Mudge of Bakersfield, California; his step-daughters, Holly Ann Halpin of Verona and Valarie Murray of Oneida; his step-sons, Bruce Weismore, Christian Weismore, Jose Rodriquez and Rodney Ortman II, all of Oneida; his brothers, Brian Mudge of Canastota, Joseph Mudge of Cazenovia, Mark Mudge of Kirkville, Jeffrey Mudge of Peterboro, David Mudge of Verona, Michael Mudge of East Syracuse and Larry Mudge of Scotia; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Sandy Sheer.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Tuesday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida, with the Reverend Neil Coe, officiating. Interment will be made at the convenience of the family in Greene. Friends may call at the funeral home, 12 noon to 1 PM, Tuesday, prior to the funeral service.
