Biography: DORRIS A. CAMPANIE
SHERRILL- Dorris A. Campanie, 89, formerly of Noyes Manor, Sherrill and Boston Street, Oneida, passed away early Saturday morning, October 25, 2014, in the Extended Care Facility of the Oneida Healthcare Center, where she had been a resident since December of 2011.
Born in Greensburg, PA on March 4, 1925, she was the daughter of John and Naomi Fletcher Watson. A resident of the area since marriage, Dorris was educated in Johnstown, PA. She married Lawrence T. Campanie on September 20, 1945 in Oneida, Mr. Campanie died on May 15, 1999.
Mrs. Campanie had been employed with the W. T. Grant Company formerly of Oneida. She was a member of the St. Paul’s Exercise Group, AARP and the Oneida Healthcare Center Auxiliary. Dorris was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church where she taught religious education and served as a Eucharistic minister.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Kenneth Boyer of Oneida; one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Sheryl Campanie of Verona Beach; four grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca Boyer and Jeremy Harrison, Joseph and Trudy Boyer, Tyson and Kim Campanie and Lynsay and Gregg Hooven; seven great-grandchildren, Ashton and Zavry Boyer, Xander, Anthony, Lukas Harrison, Ryland and Teagan Hooven; one sister, Nila Jenkins of Johnstown, PA and four nephews.
Funeral services will be held 9:30AM Wednesday from Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida and 10 AM from St. Joseph’s Church where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Richard Kapral, pastor. Interment will be made in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7PM.
