Biography:  OLGA S. SONICH
FAYETTEVILLE- Olga S. Sonich, 95, of East Genesee Street, passed away on March 20, 2019, in the Extended Care Facility of the Oneida Healthcare Center, where she had been a resident for the past fifteen months.
Born in Lopez, Pennsylvania on June 18, 1923, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Anna Cochran Stechyshyn. A local resident for the past twenty-five years, Olga was educated in Pennsylvania. She married Joseph Sonich in Houston, Texas.
Prior to her retirement, Olga was self-employed as a drapery seamstress and had formerly been employed with Oneida Limited Silversmith’s.
Surviving are two sons and three daughters-in-law, David and Joan Sonich of VA, James and Judith Sonich of Clay and Judith Sonich of Nebraska; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Connie Taylor of Oneida and Betty Selby of Las Vegas, NV and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Cheryl Mautner, a son Donald Sonich and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held 1130 AM, March 30, 2019, from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida. Friends may call at the funeral home from 10:30-11:30 AM, prior to the funeral service. Interment will be made in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. I was thinking of Olga today as I remember her birthday is tomorrow. I’m sad to see she passed last year. We were neighbors in Houston for many years. Cherry was my friend and our mothers were friends. God bless and Rest In Peace dear friend.
